Akmareul boatda (2010) aka "I Saw the Devil"

(Yet) Another uber-violent, stylish revenge thriller from the South Koreans.. but, they don't half know how to make them.

The Illusionist (2006)

Average magical mystery, but there is nothing really memorable or special conjured up here.

Iron Man 2 (2010)

Iron Man sequel or Avengers prequel?

Janck 3.5 stars (May 2010)

Ticks every box you would expect from this big budget Hollywood blockbuster sequel, with little deviation from the core brand. Downey Jr. is good value in this very safe follow up.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

Mindbending imagination adventure, which is actually better than it sounds. Has it's own fantasy charm in what proved to be Heath Ledger's last on screen adventure. Trippy.

Rat Damon!

Entertaining enough dramedy starring Matt Damon with a 'tache. Incredulous and amusing.

À l'intérieur (2007) aka "Inside"

Edgy and dark, everything you'd expect from a French shocker.

Inception (2010)

Janck: Hurrah for the 'smart' summer blockbuster, but it ain't the classic fanboys will have you believe it is.

Mitch: Thoroughly decent thriller that works on many levels. Lives up to the word-of-mouth hype, but it is not the immaculate inception.

Inglorious Basterds (2009)

Tarantino is back with this wartime offering, complete with lots of decent long scenes with achingly good dialogue. An international ensemble cast combines superbly; with special mention to Christoph Waltz who is Oscar Nominated. Bloody good fun.

In the Loop (2009)

Very smart and very @!%&£*# funny.

No better or worse than a feature-length The Thick of It.

The Invention of Lying (2009)

More edgy and subversive than I was expecting, but just feel Gervais is more suited to the small screen.

The International (2009)

Clive Owen chases a bank more dodgy than RBS, watch it just for the Guggenheim scene.

Janck 3.5 stars (Jul '09)

Not content with trotting the globe already (Duplicty 2009), Clive Owen does it all over again, but what a difference a script makes. Better than expected financial thriller, with a tight screenplay.

I've Loved You So Long a.k.a. Il y a longtemps que je t'aime (2008)

Decent French drama in which family secrets are deftly unravelled. Well paced and plotted.

I.O.U.S.A. (2008)

Documentary about the US national debt, paints a pretty grim picture especially as it was made before the recent economic bailouts..

In Search of a Midnight Kiss (2007)

Love, loneliness and jerking off to a photoshopped snap of your best mate's missus .. good times.

Iron Man (2008)

Mitch : A perfectly cast Robert Downey Jr. stars in this enjoyable popcorn movie which wets the appetite before the oncoming slew of summer blockbusters. The CGI, comedy baddies and good vs evil are nothing new, but the improvised dialogue gives this movie a surprisingly down to earth tone amid it's far fetched and frequently ridiculous storyline.

Janck : Surprisingly good visuals and a genre movie with quirks .. it's all good.

In Bruges (2008)

Mitch : Enjoyable black comedy revolving around two hitmen being ordered to lay low In Bruges.

Janck : Thoroughly enjoyed this dark "Brit Flick", one of the best films from 2008 in my opinion..

The Incredible Hulk (2008)

Mitch : More enjoyable Summer blockbuster fare from Marvel. At least filmmakers are learning to pursue the darker, character-driven facets of such comic book transitions. Lessons have been learned from the previously offensively neon and corny mid-nineties Batman movies.

Janck : The worst last half an hour of "film" I've seen in a while.. Why bother with separate cover art for the DVD when they could have used that of the videogame.

An Inconvenient Truth (2006)

Big budget Geography GCSE presentation comes good in this documentary enlightening us all on global warming/climate change. Al Gore is a natural orator, especially given this issue is close to his heart. Well put together with no hard sell; after all "the science speaks for itself". Decent Sunday afternoon viewing.
