Mammoth (2009)

Family and globalisation are examined in this well-meaning but flawed drama.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest (2009)

More courtroom drama than action/thriller, this is still a decent end to a decent trilogy.

The Girl Who Played with Fire (2009)

Part II plays with fire, but doesn't quite turn up the heat from the previous installment. Good thriller in its own right though.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2009)

Cracking opening to a decent trilogy. No wonder the Hollywood remake is on the way.

Män som hatar kvinnor (2009) aka "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"

Very much like an extreme episode of Inspector Morse.

Låt den rätte komma in (2008) aka "Let the Right One In"

I could give this film full marks just because it's Swedish and takes it's title from a Morrissey song, but I'm doing so because it's so beautifully touching yet shockingly brutal, and will be a firm favourite for many years to come.

Amazing cinematography; the white Swedish snowscape lends a haunting beauty in this unconvetional love story. Recommended.

Lilja 4-ever (2002) aka "Lilya 4-ever"

Lukas Moodysson takes us on a bleak and brutal journey about the harsh realities of human trafficking and forced prostitution facing many young women desperate to escape the former USSR. A powerful and moving film.
